Future Plans
NBCHC seeks to address the housing needs of low- and moderate-income households, equity-seeking groups, including Indigenous communities, women and women-led households, racialized groups, and recent immigrants/newcomers to New Brunswick. The goal is to increase the availability of attainable co-op housing in the region.
Partnership and Collaboration
The future plan for expanding co-operative housing in Fredericton involves fostering strong partnerships between local government, housing organizations, and community stakeholders to support growth in the sector.
Planned Co-op Housing Development
NBCHC is working on a project in Fredericton focused on developing mixed-income housing. The project will prioritize a range of unit types to meet the diverse needs of the community, balancing affordable and market-rate housing. The development will be designed using energy-efficient, low-emission construction practices, incorporating renewable energy sources to minimize environmental impact. Accessibility will be a key focus, with barrier-free housing units and common areas to ensure inclusivity for individuals with disabilities. Additionally, both indoor and outdoor amenity spaces will be included to foster a strong sense of community among residents. Ongoing support and monitoring will be implemented to ensure the project’s long-term success, providing sustainable, high-quality housing that meets the needs of Fredericton’s residents.
